Effective Headlines

1. The headline Nik Wallenda to Tightrope Walk Over Chicago River is extremely effective. Not only is it highly informative, but mentioning a tightrope walk over a large body of water would hook any reader. It also follows headline rules by eliminating unnecessary words.

2. This headline, BB Gun Used to Rob Lincoln Restaurant, really caught my attention. It's almost absurd and humorous, so it made me want to check out the article. Additionally, it perfectly identifies the content of the story.

3. Doctors Expect Ebola Patient to Recover is a great headline also. It draws me in because it sounds as though I am going to receive good news for a change when it comes to reading the paper. It's also informative and effectively identifies the content of the story.

4. The headline Trice Convicted Again in Murder Trial is a very effective one. Using words that are attention-grabbing like "murder" and "convicted" really draws readers in. It also effectively tells us a lot of information about the story, like who is involved and what happened.

5. Norfolkan Designs NFL Game App really hooked me in as a reader. Especially because I'm from the area, to see that the story involves a Norfolk resident AND a national corporation is very intriguing. And once again, the headline is informational and identifies the content of the story.
